I’ve been breathing this book in the past few days, as it’s become my new mantra especially when, “I’m too bus…” starts to pass my lips. I used this as a prompt for our Creative Mama Coop today, and this is what came out in the 10 minutes where we all weren’t too busy – (if you can only imagine the chorus of our 3 babies all at once, and hungry little boys approaching lunch time while we wrote. There is a reason we only need one hand to write as mamas, so we can also do 10 other things simultaneously – like many of the things below: )
I’m not too busy to sit at the park, and watch you eat dirt, and play in the dirt, and examine little dirty fingernails thinking about how I won’t be too busy to scrub and clip them – maybe during bath, or a nap, or at some point in our not so busy day.
I’m not too busy to get outside and go for a walk, and mail a belated birthday gift and cards today – even if I’ve said that for the last week with no success.
I’m not too busy to watch you smile, to read a book, and find all of the ingredients for butternut squash risotto.
I’m not too busy to sit with a friend and forget the TO-DO list or maybe suspend it for a few hours, because answering you is more important than saying, “Wait a minute!” “Hold your horses!” and “Can you give me a second?”
I’m not too busy to roll clay into balls, to change a dirty diaper, to help your hurting teeth, and soothe you when you cry.
I’m not too busy because I’m your mom.
And too busy – I don’t want to be.
